SNP candidate for the European Parliament elections, Aileen McLeod, was in Lanark this week with Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs Fergus Ewing, MSP for Clydesdale Aileen Campbell, MP for Lanark & Hamilton East Angela Crawley, and Councillors Julia Marrs and Ian McAllan.

Aileen McLeod, who lives in Lanark, has been selected to stand as one of the SNP's six candidates for the EU elections on May 23rd.

“I’m privileged to be standing in the European elections for the SNP to protect Scotland’s place in Europe," she said. "It’s vital that people send a clear message that Brexit is not in Scotland’s name. I’d urge people to vote SNP in these elections because a vote for the SNP is a vote to protect Scotland’s place in Europe”.

MSP Aileen Campbell said: "The European elections are massively important, because they allow us to do two things. Firstly, we can use this opportunity to express Scotland’s opposition to Brexit in clear and unambiguous terms by voting for the SNP.

"Secondly, we can continue with the national debate on how Scotland can have a better future and can avoid ever again being dragged into this type of mess against our will.

"Scotland’s not for Brexit, Scotland’s for Europe. If you want to keep Scotland in Europe, vote SNP"
