The SNP MSP for Clydesdale, Aileen Campbell, has welcomed the news that the New Lanark World Heritage Site will be display the Great Tapestry of Scotland from October to November 2014.

The tapestry, which was developed by Scottish writer Alexander McCall Smith, artist Andrew Crummy and historical writer Alistair Moffat united hundreds of volunteer stichers from all over Scotland and was on show in the Scottish Parliament.

Commenting on the news, Aileen Campbell MSP said:

"It’s fantastic news that local people in Clydesdale will be able to see the Great Tapestry - it truly is an amazing piece of work and I was delighted to visit it when it launched in the Scottish Parliament.

"Over 30,000 visitors came to Parliament to see the Tapestry and I hope that the New Lanark World Heritage Site will see a boost in visitor numbers come October when it plays host to this amazing work."
