Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell joined Strathclyde Police, SPT and Licensing on Operation Myriad.

Aileen spent the morning with officers as they made spot checks on school transport vehicles and to find out more about how the operation is helping to tackle crime in communities across Clydesdale.

Throughout March, Lanarkshire police under Operation Myriad, have been working in partnership with other organisations such as Trading Standards, DLVA and the Anti-Social Behaviour Team. The operation is focusing on tackling violence, anti-social behaviour, drug offences and other forms of crime, and will also help to build stronger relations with partner agencies and communities in the fight against crime.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:

"Operation Myriad is a month of targeted action in Clydesdale and across the region. It was extremely
helpful to be able to watch the operation in action.

"The police are committed to tackling and reducing crime in our communities. This operation, which involves many different partner agencies, will help to tackle various different types of crime from drugs to road offences.

"The police are doing a good job in tackling crime in Clydesdale, but they need our assistance as well. We can all play our part by reporting crime and help the police to make Clydesdale a safer place."

Superintendent Elaine Ferguson, Operations, Motherwell Police Office said:

"We have responded to concerns from the residents of Lanarkshire and have devised this campaign to co-ordinate our efforts to target high level priorities such as alcohol fuelled violence, anti social behaviour, domestic abuse and robbery which are continually at the forefront of policing in Lanarkshire.

"As always, we need the assistance of our communities to report crime and provide information to allow us to focus our efforts where they are needed most. To this end I would encourage any person who has knowledge of criminality in their area to contact us and together we can make Lanarkshire a safer place to live.
