Clydesdale Constituency MSP Aileen Campbell has reacted with disappointment to Patersons decision to appeal to the Court of Session after its last appeal against a decision to refuse permission for a quarry at Overburns was rejected.

It has been confirmed that Paterson’s lodged the appeal just before the deadline was about to pass.

Aileen said:

"I am extremely disappointed by Paterson’s decision to lodge this appeal.

"Their applications have been consistently rejected by the community, South Lanarkshire Council and latterly, by the Reporter. Yet Patersons continue to refuse to accept it.

"Crucially, the local community overwhelmingly opposed the plans and Clyde River Action Group have led an evidence based, determined and coordinated campaign against the proposals.

"Paterson’s must now accept the outcomes of the planning process and the will of the people."
