Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell has given her backing to Scottish Tourism Week. She joined MSPs at Holyrood to endorse the awareness campaign, which runs from 4 March to 13 March 2013.

Scottish Tourism Week aims to increase awareness of the vital contribution tourism makes to the Scottish economy, and bring together the private and public sector to promote and create opportunities for the industry to grow further in Scotland.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:

"Scottish Tourism Week plays a crucial role in raising awareness about the benefits and importance of tourism to Scotland’s economy.

"In Clydesdale we have some fantastic historical and natural attractions such as the River Clyde and New Lanark. Tourism is an important sector for our local economy and one which I believe can be expanded further.

"As Scotland’s international profile develops and we host major international events like the Year of Homecoming, the Ryder Cup and the Commonwealth Games in 2014, it is important we continue to work together to support tourism across Scotland."
