Aileen Campbell, MSP for Clydesdale, has launched a Facebook campaign to try and bring Biggar back home.

According to Facebook, the rural Clydesdale villages of Biggar, Symington, Wiston, and Dolphinton are not located in Lanarkshire, but some 40 miles north in Fife!

After being approached by an ex-pat Biggaronian about the mistake and despite contacting Facebook to point out this glaring geographical mistake, no response has been forthcoming from the social media organisation.

Aileen Campbell has now used Facebook’s own resources to try and help "Bring Biggar Back Home" by setting up a Facebook campaign to highlight the misplacing of the town, and help local residents and ex-pats to correctly log their profile history on the site.

Commenting, Aileen said:

"A few months ago I was contacted by a Biggaronian now living elsewhere who noticed the bizarre listing of Biggar being in Fife.

"I tried to bring this mistake to Facebook’s attention, but to no avail, so I thought why not have a bit of fun and use Facebook for our own gains and start a campaign page on the site.

"I hope local residents will ‘Like’ the campaign and post their own comments and help bring Biggar back Home to Lanarkshire!"
