Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell visited Clydesdale’s newest business venture, Rice n Spicy, this week.

As part of her commitment to supporting new and existing businesses in Clydesdale, local MSP Aileen Campbell visited the Carstairs based catering company to find out more about how the business was started and how it will operate in Lanarkshire.

The enterprise is the brain-child of Carstairs resident Rashed Ghani. His catering company will be offering traditional Punjabi food to Lanarkshire residents and by operating out of Carstairs he hopes to take advantage of the area’s excellent larder and help support the local economy.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:

"I am pleased to support this new business in Clydesdale and it is very heartening to see that Clydesdale residents like Rashed have the confidence to start their own business in the area.

"Rashed was recently made redundant but has used this as an opportunity to re-train and to develop a new business operating in Carstairs. This is a good news story for Clydesdale and an inspirational story during this period of economic uncertainty.

"Not only is Rashed’s determination impressive but so too is his traditional Punjabi food which went down a treat at his recent pre-launch night. I wish Rashed and his family all the very best for the future and continued success."

Owner of Rice n Spicy, Rashed Ghani said:
"My passion has always been traditional Punjab cooking and have taken this opportunity to share this with the people of Clydesdale and beyond.
"This is a tremendously exciting time for us to offer something new and unique to the market place.
"We will be offering a range of catering options and have already secured our stall at The New Lanark Food Fair on the 3rd & 4th November which will allow our food to be sampled and purchased by the public."
