"IT REALLY HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE, CATERING FOR CULTURE VULTURES, TO THOSE WHO JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN".

As Biggar gears up for another Biggar Little Festival, Clydesdale’s MSP, Aileen Campbell, has sent her congratulations to the organisers in what will be the cultural jamboree’s 10th birthday.

From 6th to 28th October the Clydesdale market town will again be transformed into a haven of art, music, theatre and much entertainment and fun for all the family.

Aileen, who lives in the town with her husband and son, said:

"I always look forward to this time of year. Even though summer has past and the nights draw in - Biggar brightens the gloom with its fabulous festival.

"It really has something for everyone, catering for culture vultures, to those who just want to have fun.

"I know that this year’s programme is the biggest so far and is as eclectic as ever - with a production of Hamlet, rubbing shoulders with an X Factor contestant; the hosting of the BBC Young Traditional Musician semi-finals; an evening with 70’s chanteuse Kiki Dee; to a children’s art workshop in paperwork.

"It also offers a great showcase for local talent - artists, poets, to the fantastic animators and aspiring fashion designers from Biggar High School.

"There’s also an opportunity to sample some of the tastiest food that Clydesdale’s larder can offer.

"The local businesses should also benefit, because I know they put in so much effort to ensure its success.

"Look out Edinburgh, your wee neighbour is on your tail!"
