Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell joined the First Minister Alex Salmond and other dignitaries at the official opening of the Clyde Wind Farm on 14 September.

Speaking at the official opening, Aileen Campbell said:

"I was pleased to attend the official opening of the Clyde Wind Farm today and it was nice to welcome the First Minister back to the area to perform the opening, especially since he cut the first turf on the site in 2009. The FM also took the chance to launch a scheme to help communities who are near wind farms by establishing a register revealing details of community benefits agreed with developers as part of renewable-energy projects.

"The wind farm, which is one of the biggest in Europe, will help Scotland become a greener nation less reliant on fossil fuels and demonstrates our ability to be a global leader in renewable energy. But I also know there are many in Clydesdale who have concerns about the development of wind farms locally and so development must be sensitive to these views.

"I look forward to working with the local community to ensure their voices are always at the heart of decision making regarding the fund and that the wind farm fund brings lasting benefits to the area."
