Clydesdale MSP Aileen Campbell added her support to the Scottish Government’s ?1 million boost to Scottish Food and Drink to help make 2014 an unforgettable year for the industry.

The government’s cash boost will support the delivery of the Food and Drink 2014 Action Plan, which is designed to make sure producers and businesses across Scotland are ready to grasp the opportunities offered by the Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and Year of Homecoming in 2014.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:

"The Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and Year of Homecoming are international events and offer unprecedented opportunities to showcase the magnificent produce Scotland has to offer.

"The Scottish Government has a strong record of supporting our food and drink sector and I am pleased that the government is assisting producers and businesses to be ready to reap the rewards that will be on offer during 2014.

"Clydesdale has an array of fantastic produce and businesses. I hope that in 2014 their produce will be showcased at these international events and they will be able to tap into the economic opportunities on offer."
