Aileen Campbell, MSP, today offered her support to the 220 workers who face redundancy from NACCO Materials Handling Group’s Hyster forklift plant.

The South of Scotland MSP has written to Jim Mather, the Enterprise Minister as well as the company itself and to Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire asking what support can be given to those made redundant, to find suitable alternative employment.
The MSP said today: “I know that government ministers have already been in touch with the workforce and I welcome that. However, I want to satisfy myself that everything that can be done, is being done. Therefore I’m contacting all the relevant agencies.”

“This must be an extremely worrying time for the individuals concerned, their families and the entire community. I want them to know that they have my support and I will be happy to meet with them at any point to see what can be done to help.”
