SNP MSP for Clydesdale, Aileen Campbell will be visiting Camglen radio station this week with a group of pupils from Carluke High School.

Organised by Carluke Development Trust, the trip is part of an initiative to encourage young people to engage in their local communities. The trip has been funded by the ‘Community Learning Exchange Fund’ administered by the ‘Scottish Community Alliance’. The fund was accessed via ‘Development Trust Association Scotland’.

The visit to Camglen radio at the Healthy and Happy Development Trust, Cambuslang is a ‘knowledge exchange’ for pupils to participate in. The exchange fund covers the costs of a visit from one community to another community project to enable sharing of best practice.

Commenting, Aileen said:

“Thanks to Carluke Development Trust for organising this fantastic opportunity for pupils and for inviting me along.

“I’m delighted to see for myself the benefits of the local initiative to encourage more young people to actively engage in the community. The trip is a fun opportunity for participants to broaden their skills and learn from new experiences.

“Camglen station runs full time broadcasting services, offers a platform to budding artists in the area and welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds. This is great example for Carluke pupils to look to while they consider career options, think about their involvement in our community and make important decisions at school.”
