Aileen Campbell MSP attended the information session on Tuesday evening 26th May in advance of a fresh application by Patersons for a quarry near Overburns Farm. Similar proposals had previously been rejected by South Lanarkshire Council, the reporters and the Court of Session. This followed a lengthy and costly campaign by local volunteers in the Clyde River Action Group and other local residents. Campbell also gave evidence to the reporters against the proposal.

Commenting Ms Campbell said:

"I was keen to attend this session with local residents to make Patersons aware that the community in the Clyde valley have made it very clear, over some years, that they are not in favour of this proposal. By ploughing ahead with these plans, the company are causing further distress to those who have worked very hard over the years to highlight the flaws with these proposals.

"It is clear that these proposals do not enjoy local support. Patersons would do well to listen to the local community."
