SNP MSP for Clydesdale, Aileen Campbell is urging event organisers to apply for funding from the Scotland’s Winter Festivals fund.

The fund was recently confirmed by the Scottish Government to encourage local communities to celebrate St Andrew’s Day (30 Nov), Hogmanay (31 Dec) and Burns Night (25 Jan). The fund consists of £390,000, which will be split between events across Scotland. Applications are being accepted until 25 June 2015.

Ms Campbell will be contacting local organisations to raise awareness of the fund deadline.

Commenting, Aileen said:

"I strongly recommend event organisers and local groups take a moment to apply to the fund for a Winter Festival event. The fund, which is for St Andrew’s Day, Hogmanay and Burns Night events, provides a chance for Clydesdale to showcase music, arts, food, drink and entertainment.

"The financial support will be split between events across Scotland and I think celebrations in Clydesdale would make an exciting addition to the programme.

"Applications are being accepted until 25 June so for those interested, head to the Event Scotland website for further details."
